黃麗松博士之回憶錄，是由在汕頭之早年歲月開始，接著述在香港受小、中及大學教育。繼而日本圍城，艱險紛至，奔赴戰時陪都重慶，終於經印度赴英國牛津深造。再由英去美，在芝加哥大學做博士後研究。自茲以後，事業之發展可分為以下數階段：在新加坡與吉隆坡教書各十年，教學而外，對自由基化學之研究，多所貢獻，影響至今。然後任南洋大學及香港大學校長，共十八年，闢劃經營，不遺餘力。綜其一生，全心全力奉獻予教育及學術，矻矻孜孜，勤勤懇懇，一直到退休。黃校長一人所橫跨之時空，從宏觀而言，閃現了二十世紀家國流離、風雨飄搖之畫面；就微觀而言，反映出香港及其個人英才樂育、絃歌不輟之事實。

童元方，臺灣大學中國文學學士、美國奧立岡大學藝術史碩士、東亞研究碩士、哈佛大學哲學博士。曾任教哈佛大學，現為香港中文大學翻譯系副教授。譯有《德日進思想簡介》、《愛因斯坦的夢》與《情書：愛因斯坦與米列娃》，著有《戲如人生》、《一樣花開-哈佛十年散記》與Two Journeys to the North: A Comparative Study of the Poetic Journals of Wen T’ien-hsiang and Wu Mei-ts’un（文天祥與吳梅村-兩組北行詩的比較研究）等。
