The Time Machine follows a Victorian scientist, identified by a narrator as the Time Traveller, who invents the time machine to visit the future. He arrives in the year 802,701 AD and notices that human beings have evolved into two forms: The Eloi and the Morlocks. The Eloi are humanoid creatures living peacefully on the ground. They are fragile and totally dependent on the Morlocks for food, clothing, and shelter. The Morlocks are the ape-like creatures living under the ground who prey on the Eloi. After escaping from the devastated fight in 802,701, he continues to make several stops of the future, but only sees more depressing scenes. This section is basically a political reflection of late Victorian England. It is a dystopia, a vision of a troubled future.
