姜渭基投身建築行業超過五十年，考獲「營造工藝高級證書」以及英國特許建造學會會員資格。曾在工程顧問公司和地產發展公司擔任高級工程督察、工程聯絡員、工程監督和工程項目經理，並曾受聘於職業訓練局轄下之工業學院，擔任夜校講師，教授樓宇建造。
