The Nobel Laureate Ernest Hemingway was born in 1899 in Illinois and passed away in 1961, during which the two World Wars happened. He participated in wars several times, early as an ambulance driver and then as a journalist. Hemingway traveled widely, once staying in Paris, Spain, and Cuba. These experiences influenced his literary voice, as he often drew upon themes of war, nature, and the human condition.
