蕭文強教授早年於香港大學理學院主修數學及物理，在港大執教30載，直至2005年退休。蕭教授曾就數學,計算機科學,數學史及數學教學等課題發表研究論文及文章，以及著有多本關於普及數學的書籍。蕭教授對於如何把數學史融入數學的教與學當中，尤感興趣，他更積極參與『數學的歷史與教學』國際學會的工作及活動。
