《白居易詩集》編自《白氏文集》，白居易是中唐具代表性的詩人。作品平易近人、通俗易懂，乃至於有「老嫗能解」的說法。白居易倡導新樂府運動，主張詩歌反映時代狀況，所謂「文章合為時而著，歌詩合為事而作」。他晚年因政治上的不得志，而多時放意詩酒。重要的詩歌有《長恨歌》、《琵琶行》、《秦中吟》、《問劉十九》等，
