丝绸在庞大的贸易网络中，一直是备受中外商旅追捧的商品。它在古代世界所扮演的角色极为丰富──丝绸既是一种纺织原料，亦是一种货币和用以赋税之物，更是艺术家和文人的创作媒介和题材。多个世纪以来，丝绸是美的象征，它与中国艺术和文学紧密交织。香港大学美术博物馆所藏清代至二十世纪中叶的中国丝织物，题材丰富，形式多样，包括立轴、挂屏、幡及龙袍等。每件织物既展现出工匠的鬼斧神工，亦诉说着清代纺织业的种种故事。

Kikki Lam is a Research Assistant at the University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong. She received her B.A. and M.Phil. in Anthropology from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her current research focuses on Chinese silk textiles and Museum Anthropology. She also translated several exhibition catalogues related to East Asian arts and cultures.

View more自1953年成立以來，香港大學美術博物館（UMAG）逐步建立起豐富多元的館藏，涵蓋陶瓷、青銅器、家具以及紙本藝術品，藏品年代橫跨新石器時代（約公元前7000年至約公元前2100年）至清朝（1644–1911年），同時收藏自明朝（1368–1644年）至二十一世紀的傳統與現代繪畫。UMAG的出版計劃亦積極配合博物館活動，不僅有展覽圖錄，亦出版涵蓋廣泛藝術史主題、以東亞為重點的原創學術著作。
